How do your readers interact with the words you put on the page?

The world of science is just starting to catch up with the world of story writers. Exciting neuroscience research is now proving what we intuitively know as writers: that how a story is told is as important as what it is telling. We’ll examine how stories are received in the brain and then deconstruct some short fiction to see how details, images, and the blank spaces in-between are necessary to transform a storyinto a “conversation.”

Jill Pollack is Chief Story Wrangler and founder of StoryStudio Chicago where she oversees story training for more than 1,200 students each year. She is a presenter on the power of stories in our personal and professional lives and was again included in the Newcity Lit Top 50 list of literary leaders in Chicago.

Jill will accept manuscripts from OCWW members for critique. Members may email manuscripts to Jill by March 1. Please review manuscript guidelines first.
