The Big Idea

How to create ideas for children’s book and YA novels...and adult fiction, too. A lecture and workshop led by Sarah Hammond, author of childrens books and YA novels. Sarah offers a series of practical suggestions and exercises to trigger new ideas. Sarah has published a novel for teens (The Night Sky in my Head, OUP) and also a picture book (Mine!, Parragon). However, her principles for developing ideas and experimental thinking are universal for all writers of fiction.

Sarah Hammond is an writer for young people and has published books for teens and also younger readers. For almost a decade, Sarah worked as a lawyer in London. However, following her lifelong dream to write fiction, her first teen book was published by OUP,  shortlisted for four awards and described as a 'terrific debut' by the Bookseller. A recent British expat, Sarah is looking forward to sharing her love of writing and stories in her new home in La Grange. Find out more about her at www.sarahhammond.org.
